Fundraising for Ukraine
Our round-up of local fundraising initiatives for Ukraine.
BCA Duck Race
The 2022 Duck Race is returning with a real-life event at midday on Easter Saturday - 16 April 2022!
We are delighted once again to have the support of independent property company Laurent Residential in this fourteenth year of the event.
This year we’re asking you to ‘Upgrade your duck for Ukraine’. If you buy a blue, yellow - or any other colour - duck for £10 (or more), we will donate all excess revenue to the DEC fundraising appeal for Ukraine. Ducks will be available from 1 April from Natsons and on Easter Saturday from 10.30am by Beverley Brook.
Easter-themed books and fluffy toys are in store for the winner(s) and we will also be hosting a special BCA member lucky dip for our member entrants.
Andrew Stephen Blow Dry Day
On Sunday 20 March, Andrew Stephen hairdressers at 7 Rocks Lane will be opening for a special charity blow dry day fundraiser. Book your blow dry for £50 and Andrew Stephen will donate the proceeds to charity to support the people of Ukraine. Call Andrew Stephen on 020 88781313 to book your slot.
Anne Mullins Donations Appeal
Anne Mullins, together with the Barnes Goldens and Medivet on Church Rd, recently began collecting dog food to send to Svitlana, a contact of Anne's in Ukraine who ran a vet's practice. A team of volunteers managed to get the donations to Svitlana who has now been able to set up a distribution hub so that when donations arrive, a team of people with transport can take it all out to outlying villages.
Anne has been asking people to donate £5 a month so that she can put together £500 per month to send over. A deal has been struck with Aldi in Poland to buy dog food from there as a cheaper and more straightforward approach. Anne would be very grateful to anyone who would like to contribute. Please contact Anne on annemullins45@gmail.com.
