Turkey Run
Sign up now for the 3rd Barnes Turkey Run
10 am on Sunday 3rd December from The Coach & Horses
Organised by Barnes Runners, this 10 mile run, originally founded by local resident Ross Nottingham, is perfect for those who are looking to support a really worthwhile cause, train for longer runs and get fit to indulge in a guilt-free Christmas. Raise a few charity pounds while losing some Christmas pounds! Proceeds from this event will be donated to the BCA’s Christmas Lunch fund and Barnes Runners and it’s hoped that the Barnes Turkey Run will develop and grow into an annual running fixture.
What better way to kick off the festive season than with this fun race? There is a festive fancy dress theme - not essential but encouraged - to dress up as a turkey! Definitely worth the effort with a “Ginger Pig” turkey up for grabs for the best dressed runner. Huge thanks to them and Up & Running East Sheen and The Coach & Horses who have also donated prizes. After the run you can stay for a drink and bite to eat, courtesy of The Coach & Horses. The majority of runners taking part are expected to be local so it’s a good chance to meet and connect with like-minded neighbours.
If you can't or won't run 10 miles then there will be a half way (approx. 5 mile) relay option. Cheerers, stewards and marshals will also be needed to help on the day, so lots of scope to get involved.
Runners taking part in the Turkey Run are asked to either make a £20 voluntary donation to the BCA or set up an online fundraising page to raise sponsorship of £20 or more. Any additional donations will be gratefully received.
