Common Keeper's Update - April 2016

The first mallard ducklings have been hatched whilst the Egyptian goslings are already fledging (6 remain). 32 Clumps of frogspawn were laid in the pond in March which though welcome is less than half the amount recorded six years ago- which reflects the general decline of amphibians in the UK. Things to look out for this month: 1. Ducklings 2. Snake’s Head Fritillaries 3. Marsh marigolds on the water’s edge 4.
