BCA COMMUNITY ACTION IN THE COVID-19 CRISIS
The Trustees and staff of the BCA are doing what we can to support the community in the current Covid-19 crisis. We are working with FiSH and local churches to support the particularly vulnerable and ensure they have access to food and medicines. We are also working in partnership with e-transport solution business Ginger and local businesses to deliver an online home delivery service. This will mean that residents are able to order online from Londis, Two Peas in a Pod, Barnes Fruit and Veg and the Barnes Fish Shop. We hope that this new venture will be up and running by the beginning of April and plan to extend the service to include other businesses in the future.
We are compiling a list of local businesses that are offering a delivery or click and collect service and will publish this information on our website and social media in the coming days. In the meantime we are encouraging residents to call local businesses and ask them if they can deliver.
We also suggest that residents set up local neighbourhood groups to ensure that the elderly in the community and people in isolation can get help with shopping. We are compiling a list of every street in SW13 to ensure that each has a contact point. This will assist us in identifying the gaps and directing help more efficiently. We are also working with other groups in Sheen and Mortlake to cover SW14. If you are happy to be the lead for a street or are already setting up a neighbourhood group and have not already provided your details to the Barnes Community Association or the Mortlake Community Association, please let us have your contact details and street name at membership@barnes-ca.org.
