The BCA remembers Honor Bailey MBE, Founder of the BCA
The BCA was saddened to hear of the passing of our Founder, Honor Bailey MBE on Friday 5 July 2024 at the age of 92.
The idea of the Community Association was initially sparked by the plight of one of the historic buildings in the centre of Barnes with a country garden through which a developer wished to build a road and 8 town houses. After hearing about it one day on a walk with her 9 month old baby, Mrs. Honor Bailey contacted the local papers and all the local organisations with the thought that even if one family couldn’t afford to buy the house and garden, surely if many families got together they could buy it for the community. From that, the Barnes Community Association was born.
What started as an idea in the mind of a single person, has been echoed and added to by so many others living in Barnes for the past 50 years.
The funeral will be on:
Thursday 1st August, 12:30pm
East Sheen Cemetery Chapel, TW10 5BJ
All welcome
