Update on the BCA appeal for used laptops and tablets for local schools
The BCA last week launched our appeal for laptop computers and tablet devices that we could donate to local schools that have students in digital poverty - limited or no access to laptops for remote learning. This issue is now quite rightly attracting a lot of national media interest.
We are delighted with the response to our appeal so far: 50 donations of laptops and tablet devices! However we need more to meet local demand.
If you have any laptops or tablets no longer required, please call us, send an email, or bring them to the BCA at Rose House (on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 2pm for the next few weeks and Saturday 30th January between 2pm and 4pm). Full contact details are below.
Alternatively let us know if it would be easier for us to collect, and we’ll call to set a convenient time.
A very big thank you to all our members and other locals who have already donated to our campaign. The positive impact for many children in Barnes cannot be understated.
We need laptops and tablets no more than 10 years old which have their original power adaptor, internal webcam and speakers.
Each laptop drive and memory will be erased and reformatted - a process that deletes all stored data, files and images. Please see the important statement below.
We’re here to help with further guidance on making a laptop or tablet donation – please contact us at info@barnes-ca.org or by phone on 020 8878 2359.
Please observe current COVID restrictions by visiting Rose House as part of an essential journey or daily exercise, wearing a face mask, and keep a distance of 2m from other people. Alternatively, the equipment can be collected within Barnes & Mortlake, by prior arrangement. If you would like to leave your details ahead of drop-off, please click HERE to complete the form detailing your donation.
If you don’t have any suitable equipment to donate, but would like to make a financial contribution to the appeal, please click below to donate.
Thank you from us all at the BCA.
