BCA Duck Race this Saturday!
‘Quack-off’ is on Saturday 20th April at 12 noon, upstream from the bridge over Beverley Brook, but make sure you arrive in plenty of time to customise your duck at Wurkshop’s stand. All entrants will receive a small Easter egg and there will be prizes for the owners of the first, second and third-placed ducks.
Ducks, which cost £5, are available to buy in advance from the BCA at Rose House, Natsons newsagent in Church Road and Laurent Residential at Essex Lodge, Barnes High Street – this year’s sponsors to whom the BCA is extremely grateful. Laurent Residential is also celebrating its 25th year of agency in Barnes. Ducks will also be on sale on Barnes Green immediately prior to the race.
Second Mortlake Scouts, together with Tim Grebot and Mike Dixon from St Mary Barnes Scouts, will be helping organise the actual race, and we are grateful to them and also to the Friends of Barnes Common who prepare the course ahead of the event. Russell, the Barnes Green Keeper, and the White Rabbit will be in attendance to help everything go with a swing!
So don’t delay, choose a duck today, and come on down to Beverley Brook for a fun family day out
